Following a brilliant 2017 season that included a magnificent World Championships on Lake Garda, and a Euro Challenge progressing strongly on all fronts, the 2018 vintage is already looking to be even more promising : a World Championships in sunny Barcelona and already 3 recognised rounds of Euro Challenge.
Let’s start with the most important event of the season : the World Championships, which will take place at Arenys De Mar, a seaside resort about 30km north of Barcelona. It’s a popular holiday spot, and will certainly draw all the best racers on the planet, with a strong Spanish contingent expected to sign up to the class for the occasion. You’ll find all the information you need on the event/class website.
As for the Euro Challenge, three competition rounds have now been officially recognised, all in the second half of the season. The first round will take place as a prologue to the World Championships, in Arenys De Mar on the 28th and 29th July. Next it will be the turn of the Arco club to play host, with the second round on Lake Garda, Italy, from the 5th to 7th October. Then it’s all aboard the Corsica Ferry for the final 2018 Euro Challenge Tour round at Coti-Chiavari, from 1st to 3rd November. A dedicated Euro Challenge website is currently under construction. All the information you need is available on the O’pen class website, which is regularly updated.
